Matsumoto Castle & Best of Nagano: Kamikochi, Narai and more

About This Experience
This private, guided tour pairs Matsumoto Castle with a nature excursion of your choice, picking you up at either Nagano Station or in the Matsumoto area for a fully door-to-door day.
In the morning, choose between two nature options: Kamikochi, the alpine gateway into the Japanese Alps, where you walk along the crystal-clear Azusa River beneath 3,000-meter peaks and cross the iconic Kappa Bridge (available mid-April to mid-November); or Azumino, home to the Daio Wasabi Farm's spring-fed canals and a countryside winery, better suited to travelers who want a slower, food-and-wine-focused morning and is available year-round.
After a guide-recommended local lunch — often soba noodles or another regional specialty — the afternoon is spent at Matsumoto Castle itself, one of Japan's oldest surviving six-story wooden keeps and a National Treasure with over 400 years of history. You'll climb the original, steep stairs for a lord's-eye view of the city, then stroll through Matsumoto's historic merchant district.
Throughout the day your luggage stays safely in the vehicle so you can explore hands-free, and your guide takes group photos along the way, delivered to you afterward at no extra cost.

We had the best time, had fun, beautiful places to visit, would highly recommend Shuhei and his travel company to use them, they are trustworthy! I can”t ask for better, I even left my Jacket in Cab and as a courtesy they shipped it to my hotel in Osaka at my request, I can’t ask for better reliability and service Shuhei was exceptional and even took our wonderful pictures from his professional camera which I am waiting for him to email me, thanks again, Love you guys!!!

The experience was spectacular. If you can, book this tour. Not only is the place impressive, but the guide is a wonderful person. He was attentive to us the whole time, our English wasn't great and he adapted perfectly. Also, we're both vegetarians and he found us a local and delicious alternative. We learned a lot from him. Anything we asked about Japanese culture, he always answered with affection and teaching. Also, the photos he took throughout the day with his camera are of spectacular quality. We'd definitely do it again. It's the highlight of our entire trip to Japan. We'll always remember this trip with great affection.

We loved our day to Kamikochi. Chris was more like a friend than a guide and we really appreciated his care and thoughtfulness over the day. Chris took amazing photos for us which we were very grateful for. Kamikochi itself is so beautiful and in our opinion, booking a private tour like this is well worth the money to save the thinking and time catching public transport etc.
